Longtime producer and president of Vanguard Classics, Seymour Solomon, prefaces this edition of Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake with the following statement, quoted in part: "I have been persuaded to issue a new label that comprises the Seymour Solomon Collection, some of my favorite recordings made during the 50 years that Vanguard Classics and the Bach Guild have existed. Some are unique because of an outstanding performance, some because of the repertoire, or some because I just plain like them." Carrying the new Amadeus trademark, these reissues are to be included in the producer's own prestigious line of favored releases, among the first of which is this Tchaikovsky.
