The gimmick Angel use here is one that should appeal to the crossover crowd. Angel have dug deep into EMI's archives and assembled a collection of famous opera arias and orchestral music and arranged it in the fashion of an actual opera. Since most non-opera buffs don't know what any of the words mean anyway or care to follow a plot, the device is largely successful, at least in presenting beautiful music in some semblance of order.

The "opera" begins with Verdi's Prelude from Rigoletto, played by Riccardo Muti and La Scala Orchestra. The program then goes on through 18 more favorites, including Verdi's "La Donna e mobile" with Nicolai Gedda, Rossini's "Largo al factotum" with Tito Gobbi, Bizet's "Habanera" with Maria Callas, Leoncavallo's "Vesti la giubba" with Franco Corelli, ...
