I've had the pleasant experience of reviewing many good, and some great, audio components, from phono cartridges to loudspeakers. The subject of value is always in the back of my mind. A really superior component, such as an $80,000 pair of speakers I heard in a manufacturer's custom built sound room were extremely good. But, $80,000? And the listening room cost several times more than that.

Near the other end of the price spectrum are the Phase Technology Teatro 7.5 speakers. The 7.5s are an incredible value. They sound so good they would not be unreasonably priced if they cost twice as much.

Phase Technology has been in the loudspeaker business for several decades, manufacturing speakers for many well-known companies, including Fisher, McIntosh, and Electrovoice. William Hecht, CEO and founder, started making speakers in 1955 and established the Phase Technology brand in 1978. He holds patents for several speaker design developments, including: the soft-dome tweeter, a self-damping woofer voice coil and, a manufacturing process for solid, flat-piston drivers.
