Waikiki's new DFS Galleria shopping center was extremely busy this past weekend, though its official grand opening hasn't happened yet.

The central hall, designed to look like a walkway to an ocean liner on the Boat Days of bygone times, was filled with shoppers and gawkers Saturday and Sunday. A check of the Galleria's many stores Sunday night found throngs of visitors including a lot of Japanese tourists and as many local residents checking out the new theme mall.
