TAIPEI, Aug 1 Asia Pulse - A researcher with the Taipei-based Chung Hua Institute for Economic Research said Tuesday that the government should take effective steps to improve the local investment environment.
As Beijing has been offering incentives to attract Taiwan business people to invest in mainland China, researcher Ma Kai said that strategies should be worked out to allow labor-intensive industries to move to the mainland while retaining technology- and capital-intensive industries in Taiwan.
The government should understand, he noted, that the best way to retain important industries in Taiwan is to improve the investment environment, rather than prohibiting them from investing in the mainland.
