The latest update to Cinema 4D XL, Maxon Computer's modeling, rendering, and animation package, focuses on radiosity, caustics, and render quality. A completely redesigned render engine in Release 7 uses adaptive oversampling to remove flickering in animations. In addition, render time is greatly accelerated, and multipass rendering is now possible.

Multipass rendering is particularly useful for 3D objects that must be incorporated into existing film footage. Each image element can be rendered separately, and individually modified during post editing. All layers can be saved as a single file in PSD, RLA, or RPF formats.
