Calvin Elliker, librarian, guitarist, and professor of music, died suddenly of a heart attack, at home.
Calvin received a Bachelor of Music in Classical Guitar Performance from the Wisconsin Conservatory where he studied for five years with James Yoghourtjian, a pupil of Andres Segovia. He earned a Master of Library Science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, a Master of Arts in Musicology from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Ph.D. in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois.
Calvin's contribution to music librarianship was vast, and his scholarship exacting. His lengthy list of publications includes Stephen Collins Foster: A Guide to Research (New York: Garland, 1988), and numerous articles and reviews in NOTES and other journals.
