JAPAN'S ACCESS, 4 FIRMS TO JOIN FORCES IN CELL PHONE BROWSERS
TOKYO - Access Co. (TSE:4813) said that it plans to form capital tie-ups with four leading electronics manufacturers for joint product development in such areas as cellular-phone-use Internet browsers for overseas markets.
The company on Aug. 20 will procure a total of 930 million yen (US$7.3 million) from NEC Corp. (TSE:6701), Fujitsu Ltd. (TSE:6702), Mitsubishi Electric Corp. (TSE:6503) and Matsushita Communication Industrial Co. (TSE:6781) by issuing 100 shares to each through third-party share allocations. The four firms will each obtain a 0.59 per cent stake in Access.
