This week, PBN launches a new series intended to go beyond our usual task of telling you about the past and present in order to introduce you to the future.

"Brain Gain" stories, denoted with the logo shown here, will profile young professionals who more and more are choosing to call Hawaii home instead of San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles and other hot metro areas.

The inspiration for the series comes from a local group of the same name that has met every other week since its formation in November 2000.

The group describes itself as very informal, but their efforts are crucial to building the kind of social and professional networks that sustain …
