M2 PRESSWIRE-25 July 2001-Kansas State University: K-State freshmen enter engineering honors program (C)1994-2001 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD
RDATE:25072001
MANHATTAN -- Outstanding incoming freshmen from Kansas and surrounding states have been chosen to participate in Kansas State University's engineering honors program for the 2001-2002 school year.
Students chosen for the program earned a composite score of 29 or higher on the ACT or were in the top 5 percent of their high school graduating class. The students must maintain a 3.5 grade point average to remain in the program.
The students participating in the program attend a special one-hour class every semester, starting with their second semester at K-State. In these classes, students discuss ethics, relationships with and responsibilities to society, materials and energy sources and technology issues that future engineers will face.
During their junior and senior years, students will focus on undergraduate research, working on independent study projects with guidance from faculty members. The program helps students develop leadership skills.
