Taking A Stand: Students Choose "Community Based Learning".
Abstract
This article is a case study of a course evaluating the component of service-learning in an applied social science degree program. The process of the course included five study groups: a literature review, student surveys, faculty interviews, community input, and two public forums. The class as a whole analyzed the findings and integrated the results into a new course syllabus. The service activities consisted of a local grassroots initiative to access the needs of the community called "Facing Our Future."
