The break isn't much of one.(All Star Game)(Brief Article)
The All-Star Game festivities are a wonderful experience for the players selected to the team.
The people who put it on really do a great job with all the events. There are galas and receptions and parties to fill up every day you are there. You're here, you're there, you do this interview, you do that talk show. It is very hectic.
Although the All-Star Game is wonderful for the fans and a wonderful
production for the players who go, it is not much of a break. Players know what an honor it is to be selected, but sometimes it is nice to have those days off.
Some guys don't even get to the city where the game is until the early hours of the workout day. The guys coming from the West Coast last year got into Atlanta at 6 a.m. They had to go to the workout at 3 p.m., then some had the home run derby. Some guys didn't get to the hotel that night until midnight.
The only day you get to rest is the day of the game. But if it's your first All-Star Game, you are so pumped you can't rest.
