In recent years, the industry has seen many efforts to facilitate electronic commerce between mortgage lenders and attorneys through proprietary networks.
But Fiserv, makers of the MortgageServ system for automation of loan administration, has decided to use the most public network of all to manage communication with foreclosure attorneys.
Their browser interface allows lenders using the Fiserv system to have a more seamless interface with the attorneys via the Internet, so lenders and attorneys can all work from the same database using real-time information. The attorney site was developed about a year ago for a client to beta test.
Using secure Web access, the attorney visits the site to pick up information about new cases being assigned for foreclosure work. Because the system uses real-time information, attorneys are notified right away if a payment has been made and the loan is reinstated.
Likewise, servicing managers can see that attorneys have opened a file and can monitor progress through the foreclosure process.
