We face a deep problem today: The family where each member pursues his own self-interest. I have lived in such a family. I learned, to my surprise, that such homes do not make people very happy. A family held together by a series of contractual understandings, even reasonable and well-developed ones, turns out to be less stable and satisfying than a family held together by that intangible, often misunderstood, quality called love.
