Our Postal Service is in worse shape than you think

In a tone of sunny desperation, the U.S. Postal Service has taken to sending out press releases--via fax--which, like much of what this beleaguered giant attempts, only underscore its deepest woes: "The U.S. Postal Service today announced it is attempting to establish a world record to prove that, even in the age of electronic communications and the Internet, the art of card and letter writing is still relevant and a tradition worth keeping." We haven't yet received an update on the record-setting effort.
