Nearly a year after the 2000 election controversy, most Americans appear satisfied with the outcome. Three-quarters accept George W. Bush as the legitimate President. Ninety-two percent of Americans believe their own vote was counted fairly; 1 percent do not. Attitudes toward the Supreme Court have remained positive and stable, but Republicans are now more positive about the Court than Democrats. Nearly all polls conducted since the election show that if the contest were rerun, the outcome would be close again.
