The August 5th London Sunday Telegraph reported that provincial authorities in Guangdong (formerly Canton), China, recently ordered that 20,000 abortions and sterilizations be performed in the impoverished region of Huaiji before year's end. Census officials had reported the average family in Huaiji to include five or more children, giving Communist authorities an excuse to crack down on residents for flagrantly flouting the nation's official one-child policy.
