CheckFree, a provider of electronic payment software and services, announced that in June it distributed 500,000 e-bills, for a run-rate of six million bills per year.
The company also reported revenue of $121.8 million for the quarter ending in June, a 38% increase from $88.5 million during the same period a year earlier.
Still, the company reported a pro forma loss of $779,000, or one cent per share, during the quarter, excluding the impact of acquisition-related amortization and one-time charges. That compares to a loss of $3.3 million for the same period in 2000.
On a generally accepted accounting principles basis, CheckFree lost $87.7 million, or $1.01 per share, during the fourth quarter and $363.1 million, or $4.49 per share, for its entire fiscal year. The company attributed the loss to acquisition-related intangible amortization and one-time charges.
Chairman and CEO Pete Knight said the company made "significant gains across each of our divisions" during its fiscal year.
