IBM Debuts Super-Hi-Resolution Monitor.(Product Announcement)

IBM takes monitor envy to new heights with the T220, which the company claims is the world's highest-resolution flat-panel monitor. The 22.2-inch display allows for a viewing area of two 8.5- by 11-inch pages side by side. Some 9 million pixels--200 pixels per inch--fill the viewing area.

This makes for highly detailed, or, in the company's words, "photographic quality" imaging. In a marketplace where flat-panel monitors of ever increasing quality are available at ever-decreasing prices, IBM's decision to release a $22,000 unit certainly bucks a trend. But the company expects the unit will appeal to professionals seeking a super high-quality display, including physicians, bankers (who will especially appreciate its high style and small footprint), engineers, publishing professionals, physicians, and researchers.
