Even though another division title is within reach, this is a club that knows it's not what it used to be
The Braves have seen 'em all come and go through a decade of September grinds. They've turned away every challenge and stood up to every dare. So the sense of inevitability that hovers over the National League East this time around is inescapable.
Yes, Atlanta faces an upstart bunch of Phillies, who simply won't go away. But the Braves have faced this before, and it's come to nothing. In September, Atlanta always hangs teams such as the Phillies out to dry like the Dixie dew under the glare of the Southern sun.
