UT, TxDOT, other agencies get ready to spend.(Brief Article)

The last session of the Texas Legislature appropriated $114 billion to be spent in the next two years. The state's new fiscal year begins Sept. 1.

As always, much of that amount is allocated toward transportation and construction. This column will focus on construction and transportation opportunities that are available to private sector vendors and service providers.

The University of Texas got its share of state appropriations, as did other universities in the state. Recently, the Board of Regents approved a six-year capital improvement program totaling $3.4 billion. That amount is expected to have a total economic impact of more than $27 billion on the state's economy. …
