WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Jack Reed has obtained appropriations for several Rhode Island defense projects as part of the fiscal year 2002 Military Construction Appropriations Bill.
The Senate recently approved the bill, which finances, military construction projects. It must now be approved by a joint House and Senate conference committee and then signed by the President before the bill becomes final.
"Rhode Island is a leader in technological development and supporting the military ability to fight the battles of the 21st century. The money will ensure that the state remains on the cutting edge of the defense industry," Reed said.
