AUSTRALIAN SUBMARINE CORP WINS COLLINS CLASS SUBS REFIT CONTRACT.
ADELAIDE, Oct 16 Asia Pulse - South Australia's Australian Submarine Corporation (ASC) has won a $A2.5 billion ($US1.29 billion) government contract to refit the Collins Class submarines.
Prime Minister John Howard said today that ASC was chosen for the work because it had built the six submarines in the first place and all facilities are already in place.
The contract will be worth $420 million over the next seven years and $2.5 billion over the life of the vessels.
