Toy recalls have been numerous and very public during the tenure of outgoing Consumer Product Safety Commission Chairman Ann Brown. But probably none has been more surprising than the spate of recalls involving toys from fast-food chains.
Most recently, Burger King announced the recall of 2.6 million toddler toys handed out with Kids' Meals from January through July. Since 1982, there have been 28 recalls of giveaway toys. In the most serious case, Burger King recalled 25 million pull-apart Pokemon balls in December 1999 after a toddler suffocated. Many of the toys were recalled because they can pose a choking risk to kids under 3.
