Communist China and North Korea recently solidified their relationship when Chinese President Jiang Zemin made a trip to Pyongyang that ended on September 5th. According to a September 5th Washington Post report, Jiang's visit to the North Korean capital was the first by a Chinese leader in nearly a decade, and he marked the occasion with a promise to send food to the famine-stricken nation. North Korean leader Kim Jong II joined Jiang in trumpeting their ties as "a flower that will blossom more colorfully."
