General Motors Corp. (NYSE: GM) announced today that Dennis R. Minano will retire as GM vice president - environment and energy, and chief environmental officer at year's end following a distinguished 30-year GM career.
Elizabeth A. Lowery has been appointed GM vice president - environment and energy, effective Oct. 15. As GM's chief environmental officer, Lowery will be responsible for the company's environmental and energy policies worldwide. She currently is a GM North America vice president and regional general counsel.
Minano, 55, joined GM in 1971 as an attorney and was involved in several legal areas, including marketing, product liability, energy and environmental law. He was appointed practice area manager of the environmental and energy legal group in 1990, representing the company's interests on major national policy issues.
Minano was named GM vice president - environment and energy in 1992. In 1995-1996 he also had responsibility for GM Communications.
He has been instrumental in establishing the company's environmental vision.
