The Top 10
The 2002 NFL draft will be similar to the 2001 draft in one regard: a number of quality defensive linemen will be available. Five of our top 10 seniors who will be eligible for the draft next year are defensive linemen, including the No. 1 prospect.
1. John Henderson, 6-7, 290, DT, Tennessee. A big, powerful player who is difficult to move. Plays with great effort and can be dominant. Is a little tight as a pass rusher, but can collapse a pocket. A good, not great, athlete.
2. Quentin Jammer, 5-11,197, CB, Texas. The whole package. He can play bump-and-run and match up with most receivers. Has good size. Is tough, physical and fast.
3. Bryant McKinnie, 6-8, 330, OT, Miami. A tall, athletic blocker with long arms. The key for him is if he proves he can play the left side. Has had some problems with speed rushers. Intense player. Junior college transfer who hasn't played a lot.
4. Mike Williams, 6-5, 362, OT, Texas. Huge prospect who is similar to former teammate Leonard Davis. A strong, aggressive blocker with a good punch. Shows good balance and decent feet. Might not be athletic enough to play the left side.
5. David Carr, 6-2, 220, QB, Fresno State. This fifth-year senior combines athleticism and instinct. Has an awkward throwing motion, but is an accurate thrower with a quick release. Makes good decisions. His arm ...
