What is a football specialist worth? Last Sunday provided an opportunity to ponder the question when defensive end Trace Armstrong's new team, the Raiders, played his old team, the Dolphins.

The pass-rush specialist went west in the offseason because the Raiders valued him more than the Dolphins, for whom he had an AFC-high 16 1/2 sacks last season. The Dolphins weren't willing to come close to the Raiders' $18.6 million, six-year deal that included a $5 million signing bonus.
