TAIEX INDEX FALLS 23% FROM LAST YEAR'S END.
TAIPEI, Oct 1 Asia Pulse - The weighted index of the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TAIEX) stood at 3,636.94 points Friday, a fall of 1,102.15, or 23.26 per cent from the end of last year, according to TAIEX statistics.
The number of companies listed on the main board of the Taiwan stock market reached 587, for a total capital of NT$4.071 trillion (US$136.226 billion), increasing 56 in terms of number and NT$410 billion (US$11.88 billion) in terms of capital, respectively, from the end of last year.
However, the total market value of the listed companies shrank by NT$1.688 trillion (US$48.92 billion) to NT$6.503 trillion (US$188.50 billion) during the same period.
