MUSCAT, Oct 1 Asia Pulse - Air Vice Marshal Mohammed bin Mahfoudh al Ardhi, Commander of the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) has confirmed that the Swift Sword II joint military exercise between the Sultan Armed Forces and the British Army would be carried out between October 1-29.
Al Ardhi, who is also the Commander of the joint forces conducting the exercise, said in an interview that Exercise Swift Sword II is the biggest exercise to be carried out jointly by the Sultan Armed Forces (SAF) and the armed forces of another country.
He said an estimated RO 3.5 million was allocated by the SAF for the exercise.
That sum would cover expenses of all phases of the exercise, from initial preparations to forces' return to locations.
On the objectives of the exercise, he said they include providing quality training for senior officers and other ranks in joint operations with friendly forces, joint training on intelligence analysis, command and control for land, air and sea joint operations and training for logistics and support services.
He said these lessons would be applied in the future by SAF.
