TOKYO, Oct 1 Asia Pulse - Nissan Motor Co. (TSE:7201) said Friday that it will shift production of the Maxima, its mainline passenger car in North America, from a Kanagawa Prefecture factory to its U.S. plant in Smyrna, Tennessee, in January 2003.

The move, which will enable the automaker to avoid currency risk, will coincide with a full remodeling of the midsize sedan.
