SYDNEY, Oct 1 Asia Pulse - The Australian sharemarket opened in positive territory today supported by a strong finish on Wall Street on Friday where investors continued to look for bargains and the markets regained some of the ground lost after the terrorist attacks in the US.
At 1022 AEST, the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was 32.2 points higher at 3081.7, while the all ordinaries index gained 30.6 points to 3018.6.
The all industrials index rose 47.2 points to 5202.9 and the all resources index added 22.5 points to 1340.1.
Brokers said the market was generally positive and stronger across the board, with the industrials performing well.
