SEOUL, Oct 1 Asia Pulse - Shipping companies operating routes encompassing the Middle East plan to charge a special wartime premium from Oct. 8, which is sure to undermine the competitive edge of Korean exporters, according to the Korea International Trade Association (KITA).

The Informal Rate Agreement body, based in Singapore, notified the association that it will charge a special premium from Oct. 8 because of the danger of war in the Middle East.
