As I sit in my aisle seat of the Continental 747 aircraft heading to Houston, Texas, I wonder, "Why was I chosen for the E-manual project?" There are 106 credit managers in my company, many of whom have years more work experience than I do, yet I was chosen to be on the five-member team whose objective is to re-vamp the company credit manual. We are charged with modernizing the manual by updating its content and loading it onto the intranet, so it is an efficient, user-friendly management tool.
Last week, I received a phone call from my regional manager soliciting me to be a mentor to a credit manager in a branch somewhere in Wisconsin. He explained that I'd be a good resource for the new credit manager when questions arise regarding credit policy and procedures. He knows that I will take the time to share my experiences with the new person.
