Firm files Chapter 11.(Brief Article)
Secure Comm Inc., one of the largest locally owned security systems companies, as filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and cut its workforce in half.
"We're doing what we need to do in order for us to get out of the red and into the black," says Jodi Williamson, president of Austin-based Southern Systems Inc., which acquired Secure Comm in March. "Our customers will not notice any changes or be affected."
Secure Comm was founded here in 1990 but underwent several changes when it became a wholly owned subsidiary of Southern Systems, which sells and installs building hardware such as automated doors and gates.
