We haven't written much about Jeff Gordon lately because his storyline has provided little drama. All you need to know is that he is well on his way to winning his fourth Winston Cup championship.
And he's only 30.
So how were Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt, generally considered the sport's all-time best drivers, doing when they hit 30?
Petty won the second of his seven championships in 1967, the season he turned 30. Earnhardt, who also won seven titles, scored only one before turning 30. He didn't win his second until 1986, the year he turned 35.
