VENICE -- Though he didn't have to run a campaign to reclaim his seat on the Venice City Council, Jim Myers often said one of his main goals in his last term is to oversee the complete renovation of the Venice Community Center.
Myers, who led a panel that helped guide architect Dan Ionescu while he developed a $2 million renovation plan for the building, now wants to form a committee to help fund those changes.
"The task force that I had established a year and a half ago, they were extremely helpful in making suggestions of what needed to be done to the center," Myers said. "We put those plans into action and hired the architect, and the final plans look very, very good."
The community center now has a little more than 20,000 square feet of space and is a hub of activity for civic groups and clubs.
