The Fitch credit rating service says it is giving a fresh look at its bond ratings for 64 U.S. airport authorities, and is placing some on credit watch. Hawaii's airport authority is mentioned in the Fitch report but is not on watch.
"As the U.S. begins military strikes in Afghanistan, Fitch believes the possibility for a sustained decline in air traffic is highly likely," the credit rating firm says in a statement, explaining why it's re-examining all airport issues.
Fitch placed airport bonds in Boston, Chicago and Washington, D.C., on Rating Watch Negative, similar to the credit watch Standard & Poor's last week applied to Hawaii general obligation bonds. …
