The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision recently issued for comment a consultative document on The New Basel Capital Accord (New Basel). [1] Within a week of New Basel's issuance, two of my Midwest-based clients--one a bank, the other an insurance company--initiated a joint venture by which the bank will offer the insurer's products to the bank's customers.
