NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 5, 2001
VNU Business Publications USA, one of the world's largest business-to-business publishers, announces that three of its print publications--Training, Potentials and Successful Meetings magazines--have been honored with Folio: Magazine's prestigious Editorial Excellence Award, recognizing outstanding editorial achievement of both business-to-business and consumer print and electronic publications. The following awards were presented to the magazines at the Celebration of Excellence Gala during the Folio: Show in New York Oct. 30, in these business-to-business categories: Training magazine--gold (education), Successful Meetings magazine--silver (travel), and Potentials magazine--silver (advertising/marketing).
The Editorial Excellence Awards are unique in that entrants are judged by the standards set by their editors and how well they meet their mission statements. Judged by a who's who of the industry's leading editors, publishers and consultants, this year's winners were selected from more than 600 entries in 47 categories.
"Winning the Folio gold validates the redesign and refocusing of Training magazine that we undertook at the end of last year, said Tammy Galvin, Training magazine's editor-in -chief. "The award echoes what our readers have been telling us--that our new approach with Training, from an editorial content and design standpoint, is 100 percent on target."
Training magazine is a 37-year-old professional development magazine that advocates training and workforce development as a business tool. Training magazine's 50,000 subscribers represent training, human resources and business management professionals in all industries. Training launched it new design and editorial focus with its January 2001 issue.
Potentials magazine was also recognized for its recent editorial refocus with a silver award. "The Folio Editorial Excellence Award is tremendous recognition of our success in tightly redefining the focus of Potentials magazine in 1998, and the subsequent excellent job our editorial team has done in consistently delivering an exciting product precisely matching that redefined focus," said Mike Murrell, publisher of Potentials magazine
