PEOPLE'S DAILY
- Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji held talks in Beijing Wednesday afternoon with German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, who arrived earlier Wednesday on a three-day official visit as Zhu's guest.
- The paper frontpaged a commentary calling for strengthening citizens' ethic building, which is a key part for developing advanced culture of socialism, as well as a fundamental project for improving the overall quality of the nation.
- The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (MOFTEC) will set up three new entities to deal with issues related to the World Trade Organization (WTO), according to MOFTEC sources.
The Department of WTO Affairs, the China-WTO Notification Enquiry Center and the Fair Trade Bureau for Import and Export will begin their work from November 1.
