TOKYO, Nov 1 Asia Pulse - A Fair Trade Commission panel on the Anti-Monopoly Law has proposed that restrictions on the number of shares in other companies that can be held by general trading companies and other large corporations be removed.

The panel also recommended that brokerages be allowed to hold more than 5 per cent of shares in a nonfinancial company.

After hearing views from the public, the FTC intends to submit a bill calling for revising the Anti-Monopoly Law to the Diet in January.

The current law forbids trading companies and manufacturers with capital of 35 billion yen or more to own shares in other firms worth more than their own net assets.
