MELBOURNE, Nov 1 Asia Pulse - The state government of Victorian has vetoes one of the planned routes for a heavy rail link to Melbourne Airport.
The government today said it had decided against the proposed route through Broadmeadows, in Melbourne's north, after a report by an independent assessment panel.
The panel instead recommended in favour of running the line through the western suburbs along the Albion corridor.
However, Transport Minister Peter Batchelor said the establishment of an airport rail link still depended on the results of a patronage survey which was yet to be completed.
"We're still to analyse what the economic viability of the proposal is," he told reporters today.
