MELBOURNE, Nov 1 Asia Pulse - The board of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) is on the hunt for a new managing director after yesterday's resignation by Jonathan Shier amid claims he had lost the confidence of the board.
The resignation of Mr Shier was announced in a statement handed to reporters outside the board meeting at the ABC's Southbank Centre in Melbourne.
Mr Shier later said it was important for the managing director to lead a united ABC and, as this was no longer the case, he had quit.
The statement said he would leave on December 31, and until then would work on other duties at the board's request.
