Virgin announced direct flights between the Gold Coast and Melbourne and plans to double the number of flights between the Gold Coast and Sydney.
Chief executive officer Brett Godfrey said the daily flights between the Gold Coast and Melbourne would begin on December 13, while two flights a day would be operated between the Gold Coast and Sydney.
He said Virgin would introduce a new direct service between Melbourne and Canberra from November 30 and operate two flights a day between Melbourne and Launceston from December 1.
Mr Godfrey said an extra daily flight would be introduced on the Melbourne-Sydney, Melbourne-Adelaide and Brisbane-Sydney routes.
