COLOMBO, Dec 31 (PTI) Sri Lankan leaders set aside political differences to attend a memorial service for tsunami victims Friday, a day of national mourning, as the casualties from the island's worst ever disaster neared 30,000.
President Chandrika Kumaratunga stood with her political foe, Leader of the Oppositon Ranil Wickremesinghe and Tamil legislator Joseph Pararajasingham from the Tamil National Alliance, a party that is the voice of Tiger guerrillas who made a bid to assassinate Kumaratunga.
