Abstract
When addressing the issue of on-line instruction and assessment, the essential underlying question to answer is whether on-line instruction is the "same as or different from" the teaching-learning experience before or without on-line instruction. The experience of the authors with online instruction at an academic health sciences university is that it is the same except in two important areas. The authors conclude on-line instruction does not need to be viewed as an intimidating medium of didactic experience, either by the student or the academic institution.
