SYDNEY, Dec 23 Asia Pulse - Australia's dollar closed softer today, shedding a quarter of a US cent offshore and then faltering in local business.
At 1700 AEDT, the Australian dollar was at $US0.5623/28 compared with $US0.5657/62 at Friday's close.
