Cairo, 3 September: Foreign Minister Marwan al-Mu'ashir on Tuesday [3 September] denied that the idea of constructing a canal linking the Dead Sea with a the Red Sea is a Jordanian-Israeli project. This has nothing to do with cooperation with Israel. The idea is that the Dead Sea is facing an environmental crisis and seized the opportunity of the Johannesburg summit, which is held every 10 years, to present the project of this canal to avert the occurrence of this crisis.

The canal aims to increase water supply to the Dead Sea and increase water level in the sea which has been decreasing over the past years, …
