The SA Local Government Association (Salga) and the SA Municipal Workers Union (Samwu) are to meet on Monday in an attempt to bring an 11-day national wage strike to an end. Salga chief negotiator Don Seemise said the association's bargaining council would meet negotiators from Samwu as well as the Independent Municipal and Allied Trade Union (Imatu). Imatu has already agreed to an eight percent increase. The strike has seen upheaval across the country, with some protesters turning to vandalism and violence.
